The name “Néa Gleysa” (Neuve Eglise or New Church) was first mentioned in the 9th century. Neuvéglise lies at an altitude of 950m, 5km from the campsite. It’s a peaceful and quiet village amongst the lakes and mountains popular with nature lovers. Its rustic personality and unique life style means it has stayed true to its roots. The wealth of natural surroundings makes Neuvéglise a year-round hot spot. The village hosts sporting events in spring (adventure trail, KTM mania etc.) and summer sees Neuvéglise at its best with lush green nature, blossoming wild crocuses, flamboyant shrubs and village festivals, local markets and welcoming small shops.
